As part of the Three Lions' Euro 2016 preparations, the Pommies and the Aussies reconvened at the Stadium of Light on Friday, with Rooney starting on the bench and his Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford earning his first England start.

In the 75th minute, the visitors pulled one back when Eric Dier's attempted clearance made its way past Fraser Forster:
It finished with England's second 2-1 friendly victory in a week, with debutant Marcus Rashford putting in a Man of the Match performance.
