England vs. Australia: Goals, Highlights from International Friendly

When England last faced Australia 13 years ago, the Antipodeans left Upton Park with a 3-1 victory on the evening that a fresh-faced youngster named Wayne Rooney made his debut. 

As part of the Three Lions' Euro 2016 preparations, the Pommies and the Aussies reconvened at the Stadium of Light on Friday, with Rooney starting on the bench and his Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford earning his first England start.  

After less than three minutes of action, Rashford's debut turned into a dream debut when he volleyed in the opener with his first shot:

Daniel Sturridge didn't seem entirely impressed by the effort converted by his replacement:

A few minutes before the break, Jordan Henderson tested Aussie 'keeper Maty Ryan from the edge of the area:

Wayne Rooney was brought off the bench for the second half and earned his 52nd England goal when he was left unmarked on the edge of the box:

In the 75th minute, the visitors pulled one back when Eric Dier's attempted clearance made its way past Fraser Forster:

It finished with England's second 2-1 friendly victory in a week, with debutant Marcus Rashford putting in a Man of the Match performance.
