WWE Extreme Rules 2016: Feuds That Will Continue Through Money in the Bank

Brad JonesMay 25, 2016

We're now officially on the road to Money in the Bank, and while the all-important ladder match will no doubt dominate its build, there are plenty of other feuds sure to rear their heads at the event.

Traditionally, stipulation matches were used to bring rivalries to an end, but those enforced at Extreme Rules this past weekend were seemingly incapable of doing so.

Here are some of the feuds WWE featured on the Extreme Rules card that you can expect to see reignited at Money in the Bank 2016.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Between the ladder match at WrestleMania 32, the Fatal 4-Way this past weekend and now Money in the Bank, it seems that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn just can't shake one another.

This is a rivalry that will never truly end, even if it does go dormant from time to time. Owens and Zayn had a great feud in NXT, and their work on the main roster has been even better. Both men benefit whenever they're put in the ring together.

It would be easy enough for the duo to cancel each other out in the Money in the Bank ladder match and see this feud continue on even further—but that doesn't seem like the most likely outcome.

Instead, one of the two Superstars is likely going to be leaving the match with the briefcase while the other remains in pursuit.

Charlotte vs. Natalya

Since WrestleMania, Natalya has been the sole contender to the WWE Women's Championship, and the Canadian looks poised to challenge for the belt once again at Money in the Bank.

There are plenty of potential challengers for Charlotte to face off with, but Natalya is worth of a lengthy title feud. She's excellent in the ring, and the support she receives from her fans is sure to bring a certain intensity to the program.

The recent introduction of Dana Brooke as an underling to Charlotte adds a new element to the rivalry. Brooke is still relatively inexperienced and a little rough around the edges, but she's demonstrated a capacity to thrive when she's given good collaborators to work with.

At times, this program has seemed like little more than a stopgap to extend Charlotte's reign before she's pitted against other competition. A match at Money in the Bank could help determine whether the feud as a whole will be a waste of time or not.

AJ Styles vs. The Club

While AJ Styles didn't compete against The Club at Extreme Rules, the outcome of the main event seems to have decided the fate of this budding trio.

Styles couldn't capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and failed to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match the following night. He's been cast adrift, and it's clear that he holds The Club responsible.

Unfortunately, friendships rarely end on good terms in the world of wrestling. AJ Styles may be eager to detach himself from The Club, but he'll only be able to do so if he meets them in the ring beforehand.

It's difficult to say whether we're heading for a handicap match or if there will be a different kind of physical altercation between the two sides at Money in the Bank. However, expect to see this feud develop over the coming weeks.
