Full Predictions for Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn After WWE Extreme Rules 2016

Brad JonesMay 24, 2016

At Extreme Rules 2016, neither Kevin Owens nor Sami Zayn could manage to dethrone The Miz and claim the Intercontinental Championship.

However, that's not to say that things aren't looking bright for the pair of Canadians as we head into the summer.

Both Owens and Zayn are among the top prospects for the future on the WWE roster. Whether you're a fan who was on board with their talents as they journeyed through the independent circuit or a WWE viewer who's only been exposed to them more recently, it's impossible to deny their talents.

Their abilities have certainly not been overlooked by WWE management. On Monday night, both were given opportunities to enter the Money in the Bank ladder match at next month's pay-per-view—and both gained admission to the potentially career-defining contest.

Special emphasis has to be placed on the way that Zayn won his qualifier. The Underdog from the Underground neatly dispatched Sheamus, certainly one of his biggest wins since graduating to the main roster.

However, Owens also managed to claim a scalp of his own, beating AJ Styles in the evening's main event. Given that The Phenomenal One had taken WWE world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns to the limit just hours before, that's no small accomplishment.

Expect Owens and Zayn to continue their rivalry in the ladder match on June 19.

These two men are well-versed in this kind of match, so it's apt that they would face off under the stipulation twice in their first year as members of the active WWE roster.

However, Owens has to be favoured over Zayn in terms of a likely winner. Despite their close relationship, the two men really couldn't be more different. Zayn is at his best when he's on the chase, whereas Owens really shines when he has a prize to defend.

KO is perhaps the perfect candidate to have the Money in the Bank contract at his disposal.

As well as being able to show off about his status as the uncrowned world champion, possessing a trophy that doesn't necessarily have to be defended offers a braggart like Owens plenty of opportunities.

Given the way that Owens and Zayn continued their feud at Extreme Rules in a multiman matchand they will do the same at Money in the Bankit seems likely that the rivalry will continue on toward Battleground in July.

Owens never forgave Zayn for costing him the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, so perhaps we'll see KO get his revenge at Money in the Bank.

The feud between Owens and Zayn has been one of the best things on WWE television in 2016, and it's obvious that both men are more than capable of extending the program. Adding the Money in the Bank briefcase into the mix could stoke the fires even further.

Owens and Zayn are destined to do this forever, and as far as the immediate future goes, they're seemingly destined to do so on pay-per-view until the end of the summer.

Multiman distractions will soon subside to let these two concentrate on each other once again. However, it's likely that one of them will be holding the Money in the Bank briefcase when that comes to pass.
