Other Extreme Rules Thoughts
Extreme Rules is supposed to be the most hardcore night of the year, but with only half the card utilizing major stipulations, it doesn't feel much different than any other PPV.
However, the event does have the potential to be great thanks to the level of talent competing in every bout.
The feud for the WWE Intercontinental Championship has heated up in recent weeks. Four of WWE's most versatile and talented competitors will fight in what is sure to be a contender for Match of the Night.
Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose will compete in the first Asylum match. It's essentially a steel cage with several unorthodox weapons hanging from the top.
This strange concept has the potential to make or break Ambrose's current push. If he and Y2J can exceed expectations, this could become a staple for Ambrose's character.
The Club and The Bloodline will have two contests. AJ Styles will challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in an Extreme Rules bout that is guaranteed to be entertaining, and The Usos will fight Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows in a Texas Tornado match.
These two groups have been fun to watch over the past several weeks, and with the ability all six men have, both contests should deliver in a big way.
As for the women, we will finally see Charlotte fend for herself when she defends the WWE Women's Championship against Natalya in a Submission match with Ric Flair banned from ringside.
We know how good these two Superstars are, and we should expect nothing less than an outstanding performance out of both women.
Rusev seems like a lock to take the United States Championship from Kalisto, and The Vaudevillains could easily win the tag titles from The New Day.
WWE's attempt to force a new era to emerge might actually be working, and we could see a different-looking title scene by SummerSlam.
