Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Antoine Griezmann, Reece Oxford Rumours
Manchester United's hopes of tempting Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford look to have been dashed after the attacker stated his plans to sign a contract extension at Atletico Madrid. Plus, the uncertainty over United's managerial situation could kill their bid to sign Reece Oxford.
UEFA Champions League finalist Griezmann is eager to end any speculation over his future and pen a new deal at the Vicente Calderon, recently telling Spanish newspaper AS (h/t Metro's George Bellshaw):
"I said Atletico was among the best five teams in Europe and the truth is that now we’re among the best two.
Hopefully we’ll be the best in Europe. Atletico have given me an offer to carry on and I want to stay.
I want to get it all sorted before the Euros so I can play in France with my mind at ease.

The former Real Sociedad forward has enjoyed a whirlwind rise to the top since moving to Atletico in the summer of 2014, scoring 57 goals in 106 total appearances for the club thus far.
However, United aren't the only team interested in a deal for the France international, and Bloomberg's Tariq Panja reported Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to lure their target back to his native land:
Despite their FA Cup triumph on Saturday, the Red Devils' chances of recruiting Griezmann seem all the slimmer after they finished fifth in the Premier League to miss out on Champions League qualification.
Atleti manager Diego Simeone is unsurprisingly among the attacker's biggest fans, per Spanish daily Sport. When asked how his star man has improved since moving to Madrid, he replied: "Work. A lot of effort, accepting he has to listen. The best way to improve is to listen. Now, at the moment, he is among the three best players in the world."

United are in a state of rebuilding that will take time and effort in the transfer market, and unfortunately for them, targets of Griezmann's calibre may simply be out of reach.
The 25-year-old hopes to sign a new contract with his employers, and the fans also showed their admiration by electing him their Primera Division Player of the Year, per the club's official Twitter account:
Meanwhile, it was suggested United would make their move for £10 million Oxford "as soon as the Premier League finished," but the club has yet to approach West Ham United, according to the Mirror's Simon Mullock.
Bleacher Report's Dean Jones reported on Oxford's apparent reluctance to pen a new contract with the Hammers, leading to speculation the club would be willing to sell the 17-year-old:
However, United are in limbo. This is due to the uncertainty over whether incumbent boss Louis van Gaal will lead the side next season or Jose Mourinho will take over, as reported by Simon Stone and Dan Roan of BBC Sport.
The Red Devils' summer vision will become all the more clear once a decision is taken on who will manage the club, and a move for the versatile Oxford will have to hold off until then.
