Pittsburgh Steelers Practice with 'MVP' Motorized Dummy Technology
Vanessa de BeaumontMay 20, 2016
This summer, the Pittsburgh Steelers have dedicated time to working with not one, but several MVPs during their offseason training—Mobile Virtual Players, that is.
The motorized dummies, developed by former Dartmouth player Elliot Kastner, are quick (posting a five-second 40-yard-dash time), easily maneuverable and serviceable to any on-field position group. Also, unlike trainers or teammates, they never tire.
Most importantly, the remote-controlled devices allow players to properly practice for real game-day play with a reduced risk of injury, particularly head trauma.
