Conor McGregor Comments on Meeting with Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta

Danny WebsterMay 19, 2016

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor said he is in a "good place" with the UFC after meeting with co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta and president Dana White on Wednesday.

The two sides met in Los Angeles for the first time since McGregor was removed from the UFC 200 card, in which he was supposed to main-event the show with Nate Diaz. McGregor told ESPN it was a productive meeting and that it was important to put emotions aside (h/t Damon Martin of Fox Sports):

"

I met with Dana and Mr. Fertitta, good conversation like it always is. We have a good relationship. It is what it is. It happens. This is the fight game. Sometimes emotions get into it but it's important to recognize that emotions have no place in business.

So that's essentially what it was last night. We just set it aside. There's no place for emotions in this. We are doing beautiful things so let's continue. Let's fix it and continue.

The three met for the better part of two hours, per Martin, and McGregor said, "I'd say we're nice and in the middle. In a good place."

Nothing can be done to salvage the McGregor-Diaz match in July, but this is the first step to planning something down the road.
