Preakness 2016: Post Time, Race Schedule and Latest Prize Money Info

Joe PantornoMay 20, 2016

The 141st running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on Saturday is set to be a wet one, with steady rain and temperatures that will struggle to reach the 60's.

Nyquist will have an opportunity in the inclement weather to win the second leg of the Triple Crown and continue on the path to be the second horse in as many years to win horse racing's biggest honor.

Here's a look at the day's schedule:

Those horses, their jockeys, trainers and owners will be competing for a $1.5 million purse, according to TripleCrown.com.

This is what the payouts will look like after the race:

160$900,000
220$300,000
311$165,000
46$90,000
53$45,000

Nyquist is going for a perfect 9-0 record at Pimlico, and he's been the overwhelming favorite since the Kentucky Derby ended.

This is a horse that can win a race from any position on the track, and he's proved that over his first eight races.

But the weather could have an impact on the expected order, as Exaggerator—the race's second-favorite horse—has shown that he can thrive in muddy conditions.

If jockey Kent Desormeaux can mount a late charge and if Nyquist can't open up a big enough lead down the stretch, the Kentucky Derby winner could be caught in the rain.
