Orioles Minor League Pitcher Barehands Liner Hit Back at Him

Kyle NewportMay 31, 2018

Southpaw Ashur Tolliver wears a glove for fielding when he pitches for the Bowie Baysox (Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles), but as it turns out, he doesn't really need it.

He's more than capable of making plays with his bare hand.

Leading off the top of the seventh inning of Wednesday's game, left fielder KC Serna of the Reading Fightin Phils (Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) hit a line drive right back up the middle. It looked like a sure base hit, but Tolliver reacted to the comebacker by taking a stab with his left hand.

Out.

No manager wants to see his pitcher make barehanded plays, but fortunately for the Baysox, Tolliver—who wound up pitching a scoreless inning—appeared to be fine.
