According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Moore is the top-ranked player in the state of Illinois and the 16th-ranked point guard in the country in the class of 2016.
Prior to joining the Golden Bears, Moore had whittled his list of prospective schools down to eight. According to 247Sports' Chance Linton, the finalists included California, Illinois, Georgia Tech, LSU, Miami, SMU, UNLV and Western Kentucky.
In short, the pickup is a big one for Cal.
According to 247Sports' composite team rankings, the Golden Bears' 2016 class ranks last among all Pac-12 schools. To that end, Moore represents the program's only commit who's ranked higher than a 3-star. By comparison, the Arizona Wildcats own the Pac-12's top-ranked recruiting class with pledges from four 5-stars and one 3-star.
However, ESPN.com's Jeff Borzello noted Cal has plenty to be pleased about following Moore's big move:
With an established talent like Ivan Rabb ready to take the next step in his development and Moore slotted into the team's backcourt, Cal has the pieces necessary to remain competitive against the likes of Arizona, Oregon and UCLA.
However, it's going to take a superlative season-long effort to avenge last season's first-round NCAA tournament upset loss to the No. 13-seeded Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
