2016 Heisman Trophy Odds: Watson, Fournette Lead College Football Betting Prop

OddsShark.comMay 18, 2016

Alabama running back Derrick Henry rolled to a new SEC rushing record last season and won the Heisman Trophy, providing Heisman futures bettors who backed him early with a payout of +1500.

Henry will now try to make it in the pros, but three of last year's top four Heisman Trophy vote-getters are back for the upcoming college football season. Who will win the 82nd Heisman award? Here's a rundown of the top odds to win the Heisman Trophy at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson, who led the Tigers to the national championship game last season while finishing third in the Heisman voting, tops the early odds to win the Heisman Trophy this season at a price of +350. The junior quarterback and his Clemson teammates begin what they hope is another drive to the College Football Playoff with a national television bout at Auburn September 3.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette sits as the second choice on the early Heisman odds board at +400. The junior begins what is likely to be his final collegiate season when the Tigers venture north to take on Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on September 3.

Last year's Heisman runner-up, Stanford dynamo Christian McCaffrey, follows as the third pick at +500. McCaffrey and his Cardinal outfit open their season with a Friday night date with Kansas State on September 2 and receive some big-time exposure when they visit Notre Dame on October 15.

Following a trying sophomore season, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett heads into this season as a +1000 choice to win the Heisman Trophy. His Buckeyes, a co-favorite on the odds to win the national championship, open their 2016 campaign with a home game against Bowling Green on September 3.

Finally, Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly and Florida State running back Dalvin Cook are both getting +1200 in early 2016 Heisman Trophy betting. As luck would have it, these two square off in the season opener for both teams, as the Rebels battle the Seminoles on September 5 in Orlando, Florida.

Elsewhere on the Heisman board, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who finished fourth in the voting last year, and Georgia running back Nick Chubb are both listed at +1400, with UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen at +1600 and Sooners running back Samaje Perine and Oregon running back Royce Freeman at +2000.

Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley and Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs are both at +2500, with Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya and Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes at +3300 on those college football betting props.

Before Henry won last year, the previous five Heisman Trophy awards were won by quarterbacks.
