Arsenal Transfer News: 3 Deals Eyed Amid N'Golo Kante, Ashley Williams Rumours

Tom SunderlandMay 15, 2016

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has pledged to sign three players during the summer transfer window, with Leicester City's N'Golo Kante and Swansea City defender Ashley Williams among those being eyed as recruits.

The French boss recently spoke to the media about his summer transfer plans and discussed his desire to make small improvements while maintaining a "stable" core, per James Benge of the London Evening Standard:

"

We want to keep the squad stable over the summer while strengthening where possible. You want the group to be stimulated and to believe that we have improved the quality.

I must say, we want to combine technical stability with players that we know want to play and know our game. Maybe bring in three players for example. That’s the right level for me.

James Cambridge of the Daily Express recently cited a report from French outlet Le 10 Sport, which claimed the Gunners are willing to meet the £20 million release clause allegedly in Kante's contract.

Not only that, but Ligue 1 Show presenter Matt Spiro sourced the French media and reported Kante has reciprocated Arsenal's admiration and is looking to move to north London:

The Premier League champion has seen his stock rise immensely this season after aiding the Foxes in their title charge and taking his place in the Professional Footballers' Association Premier League Team of the Year.

Football writer Nooruddean Choudry jested that with a player of Kante's quality among their squad, Arsenal will struggle to choke in their future Premier League title pursuits:

It's also been suggested Wenger is ready to revive his interest in Swansea centre-back Williams, per Colin Mafham of the Daily Express, who has claimed the Gunners will look to win the £20 million race for his services.

The Welshman turns 32 in August, but Ben McAleer of WhoScored.com recently provided evidence that the player is as fit and fresh as ever:

Williams has been a mainstay of the Swansea side that's established itself as a Premier League staple in recent seasons, and with Per Mertesacker also set to turn 32, quicker feet may be required.

Swansea have conceded just 19 goals at the Liberty Stadium in league competition this term, a better home record than Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Southampton, with much credit owed to Williams.

On the departure board, it's been reported that Middlesbrough are keen to bring Mathieu Flamini in on a free transfer this summer, according to the Daily Star Sunday's Middlesbrough" target="_blank">Carl Eldridge.

Boro have won promotion back to the English top flight, and a source was quoted by Eldridge heaping praise on the Arsenal anchor, who is set to leave the Emirates this summer: "At only 32, Matty has plenty of life left in his legs and would be an asset for Boro going into the Premier League. It’s not a financial decision for Matty—his business is booming and he’ll soon be in the super rich bracket."
