Russell Wilson Gives Commencement Speech at Wisconsin, Joins 'Jump Around' Dance
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson spent just one season with the University of Wisconsin's football team, but he made it count.
Wilson—who played most of his college ball at NC State and took advantage of the graduate-transfer exception to play one year at UW—led the Badgers to a Big Ten Championship and a Rose Bowl berth during the 2011 season.
Five years and one Super Bowl title later, Wilson returned to Wisconsin to give the commencement speech at Camp Randall Stadium.
According to Susannah Brooks of Wisc.edu, Wilson said, in part:
"We often think about heroes in life. What we don't always think about are the moments that made them who they were—when no one was looking, but they made themselves just a little bit better anyway. When they came up short but didn't quit.
"
And of course, the day wouldn't be complete without a rousing celebration set to House of Pain's "Jump Around," a Wisconsin football tradition.
