Tom Brady Comments on Being a Warriors Fan, Stephen Curry

Scott PolacekMay 11, 2016

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady knows something about being named unanimous MVP, as he earned that distinction in 2010. Brady recently marveled at how good the NBA's best player, Stephen Curry, has become, per Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com:

"

He is such a dominant player and so much fun to watch. I grew up loving the Warriors and can't believe they are achieving the type of success now that they never did in the past. Steph is a huge part of that and I love how Jerry West (a member of the Warriors executive board since 2011) helped build the team. I am a big fan of his also.

Brady, who grew up in the Bay Area, is Under Armour teammates with Curry. He added this, per Curran: "I know how hard Steph works and how great of a team player he is. He must be really smart for choosing to sign with UA—nobody is more up-and-coming than them. Makes for a great team."

The hard-work theme is a constant with both.

Curry was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school, per 247Sports' composite rankings, and went to Davidson. Brady was a sixth-round pick out of Michigan when he entered the NFL and sat behind Drew Bledsoe early in his Patriots career.

Brady congratulated Curry after the latter was named MVP last season:

While Brady is still embroiled in the Deflategate controversy that cost the Patriots their first-round pick and may force him to sit four games in 2016, both playmakers are on top of their games.

Brady, 38, threw for 4,770 yards and 36 touchdowns last season, which marked the eighth time he topped the 4,000-yard plateau. He led New England to a Super Bowl title during the 2014 season, his fourth championship since he came into the league in 2000.

Curry, 28, won the MVP in back-to-back seasons and erupted for 40 points Monday versus the Portland Trail Blazers, his first action since he sprained his right MCL in the first round against the Houston Rockets. He and the Warriors closed out the second-round series Wednesday, where he dropped 29 points to go along with five rebounds and 11 assists.

Curry averaged a career-high 30.1 points per game this season and broke his own three-point record with a ridiculous 402 makes. His previous record was 286, which he set last year. The argument can be made that Curry was also the NBA's most improved player after he averaged 23.8 points per game in his first MVP campaign.

If Curry continues to play like he did this season throughout his prime, he may eventually catch his Under Armour partner in championship rings. Brady currently leads four to one.
