Umpire Covers Home Plate with Dirt, Waits to See If Runner Touches It
Kyle NewportMay 11, 2016
No matter how many games you've seen in your life, you never know what will happen at the ballpark.
In a video taken by Twitter user @kipwilliams15, it appears as though an umpire went out of his way to make an impact on a high school playoff game between the Texas Tigers (Texarkana, Texas) and Whitehouse Wildcats (Whitehouse, Texas).
As the Tigers' JT Morgan rounded the bases after a home run, an umpire rushed in from the first base line and kicked dirt all over home plate as he watched to see if Morgan touched it.
Was it an inside joke? An over-the-top procedural move? Whatever it was, it's not something you see every day.
