Liverpool Transfer News: Major Adam Lallana, Christian Benteke Exit Rumours

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly seeking a reunion with Liverpool's Adam Lallana this summer and will launch a £20 million move for the midfielder. Plus, West Ham United are stepping up their interest in Christian Benteke. 

According to the Sun's Mike McGrath, Pochettino will plead with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sign his former Southampton charge, Lallana, who is described as the Argentinian's "No. 1 target" this summer.

Lallana and Pochettino both left St. Mary's Stadium in the summer of 2014, but the Spurs chief is now in the hunt to re-sign one of his brightest pupils from their time together on the south coast.

Lallana was brought to Merseyside almost two years ago for a fee of £25 million, so it seems unlikely Liverpool would be willing to sell for 20 percent less than the figure they paid for his services in 2014.

The 28-year-old endured hot-and-cold form under former boss Brendan Rodgers, but Sport Witness attested to the England playmaker making vast improvements under Jurgen Klopp since the German took over in October:

Lallana has scored seven goals and recorded eight assists in 47 appearances across all competitions this season, and Pochettino may be confident of improving those numbers if the pair were to reunite in north London.

However, Bleacher Report's Samuel Rooke doesn't see value in the deal from a Spurs perspective:

Meanwhile, Bleacher Report's Dean Jones reported the Reds are ready to cash in on Anfield misfit Benteke amid rumours the Hammers are considering a move for the Belgium international:

The Mirror's Darren Lewis backed up the report and said the east Londoners are interested, providing quotes from West Ham joint-chairman David Sullivan, who said: "Whatever happens we’ll bring a top striker in.”

Kristoff Terreur of Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws added Marseille's Michy Batshuayi as another Belgian forward West Ham are looking at, as well as Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette:

The Hammers are serious in their intentions to strengthen the attack this summer, too, after Sullivan detailed a substantial bid has already been registered ahead of the summer window: "We put in a bid today for £24 million for a player, and other bids will be going in. We are going to make a £20 million-£25 million bid for a player in England this week."

The Hammers appear eager to make use of the new revenue they're likely to make from their impending move to the Olympic Stadium, and Benteke could be one of their first major investments prior to their switch.
