WWE's annual trip into the extreme offers fans more reasons to be optimistic than ever before in 2016.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Here's a rundown of what's likely to happen.
Card Predictions
We already know of three matches that will take place. AJ Styles vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is a lock, and Charlotte vs. Natalya has been confirmed, with the Women's Championship at stake.
The New Day vs. The Vaudevillains is set in stone, and aside from those three matches, there is likely to be a whole lot more action, too.
For example, expect The Miz and Cesaro to be joined by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a Fatal 4-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship. WWE is teasing its fans with that right now, and Owens' desire to get the title back means it makes sense to have all four men feuding for the strap.
Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho looks set to continue for at least another pay-per-view, with Ambrose looking to make it two wins in a row on PPV. For him, that would be uncharted territory.
Kalisto vs. Rusev will likely take place at Extreme Rules, too. In terms of the bouts lower down the card, there are a couple of options for WWE. However, expect Becky Lynch vs. Emma and Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin to end up on the pre-show.
Swerves
So where will the drama come from at Extreme Rules?
The obvious place to point to is the main event, but it's worth being cautious about that, given how flat the main event at Payback was.
Everyone expected either Finn Balor to appear or The Bullet Club to cost AJ Styles a victory. Neither of those happened, but fans are still anticipating those swerves coming in the weeks and months ahead. With a stipulation like an Extreme Rules match offering up the possibility of anything happening, this feels like the place Balor's debut could actually happen.
Elsewhere, given the way The Vaudevillains got the shot at the tag titles, failing to officially defeat Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, the babyfaces could get involved at Extreme Rules.
The duo may feel that Aiden English and Simon Gotch didn't earn their match against The New Day, so they'll cause a distraction to set up another match to decide who faces the current tag champs.
