Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn Feud Must Culminate at WWE SummerSlam 2016

Aaron BowerMay 8, 2016

WWE's hottest feud of the moment is the unpredictable and wildly entertaining Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn tussle, but it should not be coming to a close any time soon.

WWE fans have been waiting months, if not years, to see these two great rivals bring their storied feud to the big stage of the company's main roster. Now that it's here, it should run and run.

We've seen plenty of instances and examples that prove this rivalry has so long left to run, and if WWE is serious about pushing both these guys, it has to culminate in spectacular fashion at one of the biggest shows of the year, SummerSlam.

That gives us a few more months of this—at the least—and it will not disappoint.

It looks like Owens and Zayn will head into a four-way feud with Cesaro and The Miz over the Intercontinental Championship, and that alone is going to give Owens vs. Zayn fresh impetus.

WWE seems to be ticking all the boxes with its handling of this feud at the moment, especially in the way we keep getting fresh angles and fresh chances for new storyline development all the time.

Owens and Zayn can stand out on their own, but with two other guys involved, it eliminates the possibility of their own feud going stale. You can throw Cesaro alongside Zayn in the lead to Extreme Rules, have Owens with The Miz and so on.

Add to the fact that you've got a guy in Owens who is probably WWE's strongest heel right now, and it makes for an exciting few months from Zayn.

KO is nearly a year into his time on the main roster, and it has largely been successful. With his momentum able to work in Zayn's favor, it will create a huge buzz for Sami moving forward, too.

Both of them now have their sights set on the IC title, and that would be another great way to keep this rivalry going. Their in-ring work is unquestionable, and it's a smart move throwing some gold into the mix, as it will only ramp up the pressure and anticipation.

Having a good few months of this gives both guys the chance to score vital wins, which will again be crucial for their long-term developments.

We get to SummerSlam, and it could be settled in spectacular fashion. You could have an Iron Man match or even a Last Man Standing match, for example. WWE's record with the latter stipulation in recent years hasn't been all that bad, and with Zayn and Owens, whatever the stipulation is, it'll be a thriller.

There is no hotter feud than this one right now. It's one of the standout rivalries throughout WWE, it's the one fans get invested in and it's just incredible to watch.

It makes no sense to have it finish at Extreme Rules. This one needs to keep going for months and months because both Owens and Zayn will not disappoint.
