Tottenham vs. Southampton: Team News, Live Stream, TV Info, Ticket News

Tottenham Hotspur's title challenge came to an end in the brutal 2-2 draw with Chelsea, but there remains plenty to play for in the final two Premier League fixtures.

Beating Southampton on Sunday would almost certainly secure second place given Spurs' major goal differential advantage over Arsenal

Tottenham have enjoyed a sterling run of form against Southampton in recent seasons, but Ronald Koeman's side are chasing European football for next season and a win in the Pochettino derby would put them right on track.

Team News

When Toby Alderweireld was withdrawn late in the Chelsea draw, he ended his run of having played every minute of Spurs' league campaign this season. However, he has been declared fit to face his former club.

Danny Rose was also substituted against the Blues, but he too will take his place against Saints.

Nabil Bentaleb remains the only absentee from Tottenham's first-team squad.

Southampton are in even ruder health with Koeman declaring his entire squad fit for the trip to north London.

Player to Watch

The burden of replacing the suspended Mousa Dembele will fall on Ryan Mason.

Dembele has been hugely important for Tottenham this season while Mason has been largely sidelined after a breakout season in 2014-15.

The next two games are an opportunity for Mason to demonstrate his value ahead of an expected squad upgrade in the summer.

Southampton attacker Sadio Mane has been relatively quiet this season but appears to have found his best form in recent weeks.

A hat-trick against Manchester City made it five goals in three games for Mane, and his unpredictable presence will be dangerous at White Hart Lane.

With Spurs fielding an unfamiliar pivot duo, Mane could create havoc in the space between the defence  and midfield.

Key Battle

Tottenham and Southampton are two very similar teams.

Pochettino left an indelible mark on the St Mary's side and has now remade Spurs in his own image.

The key to this match will be the midfield battle where Tottenham are at a significant disadvantage.

Spurs have built their excellent season around utter domination of the midfield.

That control has been a result of the perfectly balanced triumvirate of Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli.

Each plays a role in both attacking and defensive phases, but none overlaps on the others' particular areas of expertise.

Alli provides energy and injects chaos, Dier brings clear thinking and defensive strength, and Dembele links play better than anyone in England.

Both Alli and Dembele will be absent against Southampton due to suspension, and neither Heung-Min Son nor Mason (their expected replacements) are nearly so multi-faceted.

Saints can be the first away team to control a game at White Hart Lane this season, and if they do, they'll be favourites to win.

Odds

Spurs are very short to beat Southampton at home with odds of 1/2 on being offered, according to Odds Shark. The visitors are 5/1 to take the three points, which represents excellent value. Similarly, a draw at 3/1 offers great potential return.
