Diamondbacks RF Brandon Drury Goes into Stands to Make Play, Fan Snags a Selfie

Kyle NewportMay 5, 2016

Most fans don't go to sporting events expecting to get a photo with an athlete, so when the opportunity presents itself, you better be ready.

For example, a fan at Wednesday night's Arizona Diamondbacks-Miami Marlins game used quick thinking to grab a few selfies with a player who came into the stands.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Arizona right fielder Brandon Drury tumbled over the wall along the right field line as he made a catch on a foul ball. Knowing there was a runner on first, the Diamondbacks outfielder prioritized throwing the ball back into the field of play over getting himself off the ground. (The runner was able to tag and advance to second on the play.)

When Drury did finally get up, one fan whipped out his phone and began snapping selfies with the Diamondbacks player.

The two fans next to Drury probably could have helped him up and made sure he was all right, but he was a visiting player, after all. Also, in this day and age, pictures take precedence (because "pics or it didn't happen") over all else.

You better believe this happened:

Always be ready for your moment.
