Antonio Longino Arrested: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Mike ChiariMay 5, 2016

Former Arizona State linebacker Antonio Longino was arrested in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, on Tuesday night and charged with tampering with evidence in a homicide investigation.

According to Homa Bash and Faith Boone of WEWS-TV in Cleveland, police took Longino into custody as part of an investigation into a homicide at the Sunny Spot Lounge in Cleveland Heights.

Longino was released from jail on $100,000 bail Thursday.

Per Bash and Boone, a car with two bullet holes was towed from the home of Longino's aunt Wednesday.

After going undrafted in the 2016 NFL draft, Longino was set for a tryout with the Cincinnati Bengals. He recently thanked the organization for the opportunity:

Longino spent the past three years with the Sun Devils after attending Hutchinson Community College, and he broke out in a big way during the 2015 campaign.

Along with 48 tackles, the 6'2", 230-pound linebacker registered a career-high 21 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks for ASU.

The East Cleveland, Ohio, native's NFL future is now very much in doubt with such a serious charge hanging over his head.

Although the Bengals will be without Vontaze Burfict for the first three games of the 2016 regular season due to a suspension, they aren't necessarily hurting for depth at linebacker with Karlos Dansby, Rey Maualuga, Vincent Rey and third-round draft pick Nick Vigil in place.

The organization has yet to comment on Longino and the status of his tryout, but it may not be worth it for the Bengals to pursue him any longer considering his current situation.
