NBA Betting Preview: Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers Game 3 Odds

OddsShark.comMay 5, 2016

The Golden State Warriors have not needed reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry in their last three playoff games, winning all of them behind Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

But Curry would like to get back on the court as soon as possible, and Warriors general manager Bob Myers told the East Bay Times' Diamond Leung that Game 3 against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday was a possible date for his return.

Golden State is a three-point road favorite at Portland at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark after winning and covering the first two games of the series.

The Warriors have lost just one game in the postseason so far, with Curry sitting out to nurse an ankle injury. Still, it took a James Harden jumper in the final seconds for the Houston Rockets to beat Golden State 97-96 in Game 3 of their first-round series.

Curry hurt his knee the following game and has been resting ever since.

The Blazers nearly tied this second-round series versus the Warriors in Game 2 but saw an 11-point fourth-quarter lead evaporate en route to a 110-99 loss as nine-point underdogs at Oakland. Thompson’s three-pointer with 5:33 remaining gave Golden State its first lead, and he finished with a game-high 27 points after scoring a playoff career-high 37 in Game 1.

Meanwhile, Green was a team-best plus-19 when he was on the court and ended up with 17 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists. The Warriors have covered four straight and eight of nine, according to the Odds Shark NBA Database.

Portland saw its backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combine for 47 points on 17-of-39 shooting, but they did not get much help from their teammates. Al-Farouq Aminu scored 13 points in the first half as the team built a 59-51 lead, but he had only one more after the intermission.

While the Blazers will have a tough time getting over that disappointing loss, they have played well at home with a perfect 3-0 record straight up, going 2-1 against the spread after failing to cover as 9.5-point favorites in a 106-103 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 6 of their first-round series.
