Arsenal Transfer News: Denis Suarez Targeted Amid Barcelona, Spurs, City Rumours

Villarreal midfielder Denis Suarez could become the centre of a bidding war as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have all shown signs of interest in the youngster, alongside former team Barcelona.

Ramiro Aldunate of Marca reported the three Premier League clubs have "made inquiries" about the player's availability, while Barca prepare to move for their former prodigy.

Aldunate tipped the player to find his way back to the Camp Nou and wrote:

Suarez is set to return to Barcelona at the end of the season, as the Catalans have announced many times that they will execute the three million euros buy-back clause on his contract.

The player also received a big offer to join Zenit St. Petersburg last winter but he wanted to keep playing in La Liga and ultimately decided to stay with Villarreal.

He knows that he will also be a Barcelona player next season if president Josep Maria Bartomeu keeps his word.

The 22-year-old has featured heavily for the Yellow Submarine this term after impressing on loan at Sevilla last year—after Barca farmed him out to gain experience.

Barca inserted a buy-back clause into the deal that saw him join Villarreal, and the club can reportedly take him back to Catalonia in the summer for around £2.5 million, according to the Mirror's Ed Malyon.

The Spaniard has been supreme for his club since signing, playing 43 times in La Liga and the UEFA Europa League, providing five goals and 11 assists, per WhoScored.com.

Barca's lack of depth in the attacking third, as highlighted by sports writer Andrew Jerell Jones, would see Suarez as the perfect squad addition:

Suarez would fit the mould of a typical Arsene Wenger signing, having both midfield flair and an eye for goal.

At 22, he has plenty of time to develop into a much more substantial talent, but he's already proved he can operate in La Liga and Europe with great success and maturity. 

Although not a classical No. 10, Suarez would give the Gunners a number of options behind the striker, drifting into the wide areas to add creative threat.

If Arsenal land the attacker, it could spell the end for Theo Walcott after Wenger admitted the player's development has stalled in recent times, per Mattias Karen of ESPN. Suarez could fill the right-wing attacking berth if Walcott continues to fall out of favour—after the manager said the England international had gone "through a much more difficult period" this year.

The Spanish starlet has time on his side and could add a fresh dynamism to the Gunners' attack, but his acquisition would surely see one of Arsenal's star players having to consider their future at the Emirates Stadium.
