Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Neymar and Memphis Depay Rumours
Manchester United are reportedly "working on a deal" to sign Barcelona star Neymar but could lose out on him if Paris Saint-Germain rival their pursuit of the Brazilian.
That's according to Joe Short of the Express, who reported the Red Devils are still interested in landing Neymar despite being knocked back by Barca last summer.
However, per French outlet L'Equipe (h/t Short), PSG have £238 million available for transfers this summer, and the forward, who has a £144 million release clause, is top of their wishlist. Further, Les Parisiens "are unconcerned about UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules and have plans to spend big in order to challenge for the [UEFA] Champions League next season."

Both clubs would undoubtedly benefit from the arrival of Neymar. United have netted just 43 goals in the league this season, and their attacking play has largely been ponderous and lacking a spark of creativity or flair, while PSG look set to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic's goals and are also looking to improve in the Champions League after years of underachievement.
Neymar would be an outstanding candidate to bring excitement back to Old Trafford or take PSG to the next level. The 24-year-old has been in magnificent goalscoring form this season alongside team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, per the Champions League:
He has also contributed much to the competition's knockout phase despite Barcelona being knocked out in the quarter-finals, per Squawka Football:
Here are some of his best moments in a Barca shirt this season:
Spanish football expert Rafael Hernandez believes Neymar moving to the Parc des Princes is not an unrealistic possibility:
However, his compatriot and national team legend Ronaldo is doubtful he will leave the Camp Nou. Per Canal+ (h/t Goal's Patrick Gleeson), the 39-year-old said: "He will stay at Barca. I don't think that Neymar will leave. He is well suited to the city and the team. I don't believe in the realization of this transfer."
Unfortunately for United, even if he is tempted into leaving, their offer will have to compete with the virtually guaranteed silverware and Champions League football PSG can provide.
In other news, Arjen Robben has called for his compatriot Memphis Depay to remain at Old Trafford this summer despite speculation linking him with Southampton. Per the Daily Star's Alex Crook, the Red Devils are "desperate to offload" him, but Robben believes he can come good at Old Trafford.

Robben told Match of the Day magazine (h/t Short): "He’s a very talented player, but you can’t underestimate how big a step it is up to the Premier League, and especially to a big club like Man United. He’s still very young—you have to give him some time. The talent is there—he’s got everything that he needs to be a success in England!"
The 22-year-old has struggled to replicate the form he enjoyed at PSV Eindhoven with just seven goals and six assists representing a serious drop from the 28 goals and eight assists he bagged last year.
However, the youngster has started to find his feet at United in recent months, and football writer Liam Canning is optimistic for his future:
Indeed, while he is yet to set the world alight with the Red Devils, there's still plenty of time for him to prove himself at the club before they should think about calling time on his career.
If he fails to improve next season, it's likely he will be moved on, but speculation linking him with a move away this summer seems premature.
