Barcelona Transfer News: Neymar, Sergio Busquets Raid Eyed by PSG, Fresh Rumours

Rory MarsdenMay 4, 2016

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a bold double move for Barcelona stars Neymar and Sergio Busquets.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net (via the Daily Star's Alex Wood), the Ligue 1 champions are "eyeing" the duo, with Busquets currently angling for a pay rise at the Camp Nou and Neymar having long been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The pair are two of Barcelona's most important players, and it seems highly unlikely the Blaugrana could be tempted to sell even one of them, let alone both.

However, PSG have the finances to offer Barca and Neymar big money, and Sky Sports' Guillem Balague recently indicated the Catalan club are "preparing the way in case they have to [sell Neymar]," as they are concerned they may not be able to afford his new deal.

By contrast, PSG would be able to offer the Brazil star a bumper contract while also meeting his reported €193 million (£153 million) release clause, per L'Equipe (via ESPN FC's Mark Rodden).

Neymar's compatriot, Ronaldo, does not believe that the 24-year-old will leave the Camp Nou this summer, per Chris Davie of Goal: "I don't think that Neymar will leave, he will stay at Barca. He is well suited to the city and the team. I don't believe this transfer can actually happen."

But if their financial situation does indeed force Barca to put him up for sale, PSG are one of the few clubs in Europe who could afford him.

Along with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Neymar has had another prolific season as Barca have led the race for the La Liga title, per ESPN's Dermot Corrigan:

Though he's seen a dip in form in the latter stages of the season, he remains one of the world's best attacking players, and Barca will surely do everything possible to keep hold of him this summer.

As for Busquets, 27, he is a Barcelona stalwart having come through their famed La Masia academy, and it would surely take an extraordinary offer to prise him away from the Camp Nou.

There have been whisperings that Barca are stalling on offering him the new deal he is demanding, which could give PSG a boost, per Marca (via Goal's Tom Beck).

Busquets could also be open to a new challenge next season in helping PSG achieve their long-term goal of winning the Champions League, with Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe currently placing the French side above Barca in his European club rankings:

However, the Spanish midfielder's prospects could realistically be no better anywhere else than at Barca, and his longstanding association with the club means it is unlikely he'll be tempted by a move to Ligue 1.
