SF Giants Pitcher Jeff Samardzija Breaks Bat over Knee After Striking Out
Thomas DuffyMay 3, 2016
Easy there, Shark.
On Tuesday, San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija tossed eight innings of three-hit ball in a 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. In the top of the eighth inning, however, the 31-year-old struck out swinging—and promptly snapped the bat over his knee.
He chucked 16 pitches in the bottom of the frame to retire the side—a feat that's even more impressive when you consider there may have been a few splinters in his leg.
