Bellator's Jordan Parsons Reportedly Has Full Leg Amputated After Hit-and-Run
Jordan Parsons, 25, a fighter competing in Bellator MMA's featherweight division, has lost his entire right leg after a hit-and-run early Sunday morning in Florida.
MMA Fighting's Dave Doyle originally reported part of Parsons' leg was amputated, but MMA reporter Ariel Helwani tweeted Monday that doctors removed his entire leg after his organs began to fail. Helwani passed along the news after speaking with Glenn Robinson, who heads the Blackzilians camp where Parsons trains (h/t Nick Baldwin of Bloody Elbow):
"Just spoke to @glennauthentic: Jordan Parsons had to have his full right leg amputated last night. His organs were starting to fail ...

"And his heart was only working at 20%. He's currently having heart surgery and that should last another hour or so, per Robinson.

According to the reports, Parsons has been in a coma since being hit and remains in critical condition at Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Florida. The full extent of his injuries remains unclear.
Parsons was in a crosswalk around 12:35 a.m. Sunday when he was hit, according to a Monday post on the Delray Beach Police Department's Facebook page.
"Parsons was on the south side of the intersection, walking in the crosswalk. The vehicle hit Parsons and fled, leaving him lying in the roadway. A nearby DBPD officer, Derek Chahine, arrived on scene very quickly and applied pressure to Parsons’ severe leg wound until Delray Beach Fire Rescue responded and transported Parsons to Delray Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
"
Investigators are still searching for the driver who hit Parsons but announced a break in the case via Twitter Monday: the make and model of the vehicle thought to be involved:
"DBPD is looking for a silver Range Rover Sport with a missing driver's side mirror and headlight damage involved in a hit-and-run crash.

Parsons has a career professional record of 11-2, including a 2-1 mark in Bellator. His scheduled May 14 bout with Adam Piccolotti was canceled.
Parsons' family has set up a GoFundMe page to help offset medical costs.
"Jordan was the victim of a hit&run. We are asking for donations to cover his medical expenses. https://t.co/6ZZZwJp0Zc @BellatorMMA
