"I am here to state without any reservation that I am completely innocent of all these allegations. I have worked my whole career to be a part of the Bay Area community. And I have worked in several communities and charities with the church. This is an issue that is very close to me. One of my primary charities is Special Olympics something that is true and dear to my heart. That is why these allegations hurt me so badly.
"
Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny released a statement on the matter, per Hazheer.
"This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim," McInerny said. "She was looking for a job, and she was unconscionably assaulted."
Stubblefield's lawyer, Kenneth Rosenfeld, noted Stubblefield took a polygraph test that clearly showed the encounter was consensual, via Matt Maiocco, Raj Mathai, Cheryl Hurd and Kristofer Noceda of NBC Bay Area.
"This is nothing but a money grab, and an attempt to get money and take advantage of his celebrity status," Rosenfield said, via Maiocco, Mathai, Hurd and Noceda.
Court documents also revealed Stubblefield, 45, gave the 31-year-old woman $80 after the alleged rape, per Hazheer. The woman went to Stubblefield's home to interview for a babysitting job. She reported the crime to police immediately.
According to Hazheer, Stubblefield's bail was set at $250,000.
