The Knight Riders moved to within two points of Gujarat Lions in top spot with a convincing five-wicket victory over Bangalore in Match 30 of this year's competition.
Yusuf Pathan produced a stunning performance at the crease to inspire his side to victory with a 60-run haul off just 29 balls in front of a packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Set with a target of 185 to reach, KKR's batting duo of Pathan and Andre Russell provided the theatrics with the bat to score a combined total of 99 runs.
The batsmen met when Russell entered the fray with his side 69-4, and the pair helped to produce a spirited fightback to hunt down their steep target with some wondering attacking hits.
There was a lovely scene at the end of the hotly contested encounter as Pathan and Kohli shared a handshake, as captured by the IPL's social media account:
Despite the defeat, it was a strong day for Indian batsman Kohli on a personal level, as he made over a half-century from 44 balls. Lokesh Rahul matched his 52-run total, while Shane Watson contributed with 34.
In spite of Kohli's batting display, Alt Cricket correctly predicted his score would not prove to be enough to win the match:
"Virat Kohli scored 52 off 44, strike-rate of 'just' 118. At Bangalore, as a set batsman, that qualifies as a #MatchLosingKnock...
— Alt Cricket (@AltCricket) May 2, 2016"
However, it was a less successful day for South Africa's AB de Villiers, as he faced just six balls before being dismissed for legs before wicket (lbw) for four by Piyush Chawla.
Chris Gayle also returned to action for Bangalore after missing the previous four matches. However, it did not go to plan for the 36-year-old West Indies hitter, as he lasted just two overs before being caught out after seven runs and seven balls.
Cricket statistician Mohandas Menon detailed Gayle's run of form in recent matches:
Kolkata's fifth win in seven games sees them close the gap to leaders Gujarat to two points with a game in hand. Meanwhile for Bangalore, their struggles continue, having taken victory twice this season, and they remain level on points with bottom side Kings XI Punjab.
They will be looking to make amends for their poor start to the year when they face fellow strugglers Rising Pune Supergiants in Bengaluru on Saturday.
