Rangers Fan Turns Daughter Tossing Foul Ball Back into Sweet, Memorable Moment

Catch and release is a practice best applied to fishing, not baseball.

But neither that concept nor her father, Jim, could prevent a young girl from tossing a Mitch Moreland foul ball off the upper deck during Sunday's game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers.

Rather than dampen the spirit of her first baseball game, however, it enriched it.

True, her gleeful scoop and toss caused Jim immediate but temporary distress, and his hands were on his head in fandom-fueled anguish.

But in the end, the amusing experience provided more than one kind of treasured souvenir—an adorable father-daughter hug and an autographed ball.

Sustainable foul ball catching does have its merits after all.
