WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for May 2

Ryan DilbertMay 2, 2016

A battle for control will hang over the May 2 edition of WWE Raw.

Per Vince McMahon's decree on Sunday night, both Shane and Stephanie McMahon will be at the helm of the marquee show. So as in-ring rivals continue to collide after the Payback pay-per-view, two authority figures will be in a fight of their own.

St. Louis hosts the post-Payback Raw as WWE has to start building toward Extreme Rules right away. There is only a three-week gap between PPVs this time around.

That means that Roman Reigns and AJ Styles' issues will heat up quickly, Natalya's pursuit of the Women's Championship won't feature any slow-burn storytelling and the tag team title picture will have to clear up in a hurry.

What can fans expect to see unfold on Monday's Raw? Who will show up and who will be out of action? The Raw preview on WWE.com, backstage reports and a look at social media reveal answers to those questions.

News, Potential Spoilers

As thrilling as much of the action was on Sunday, the PPV's lasting image has to be Enzo Amore banging his head on the ring apron in a scary moment during his match. Medical staff then transported him out of the arena and into a local hospital.

WWE later announced that Amore had suffered a concussion:

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com added more information on his condition. Johnson reported, "According to sources we have spoken with, Enzo Amore regained consciousness after being brought backstage last night. He was diagnosed with a pretty bad concussion and was released last night from the hospital but will be held out until he is cleared by WWE medical personnel."

That means Amore is out for at least Monday's Raw. WWE has been extremely careful with concussed wrestlers in the recent past.

In less serious news, signs point to Stardust possibly making a character change.

Cody Rhodes has moved away from staying in character on Twitter of late. In place of the Stardust persona, he has been himself. A recent photo showed him without his makeup, showing off a tattoo that honors his late father:

He has made hints at a gimmick switch in the past, but nothing has come of it yet.

Don't count on seeing The Architect in St. Louis. Rumors about Seth Rollins potentially showing up on WWE programming again are apparently not true.

Johnson wrote, "Rollins was not at the Payback PPV and is not scheduled for this week's TV tapings."

Payback Fallout

Natalya and Charlotte's battle for the Women's Championship certainly doesn't appear to be over.

Once again, they had a match end in controversy. When Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter at Payback, the referee called for the bell despite the challenger not tapping out. That is sure to lead to an angry Natalya on Monday night.

The Raw preview stated, "Undoubtedly, Natalya has unfinished business with Charlotte, whose family clearly orchestrated the questionable turn of events. Might The Queen of Harts strike back against the champion tonight on Raw?"

With Extreme Rules just three weeks away, WWE won't be taking its time with this storyline. Expect Natalya to lunge at Charlotte in a hurry, setting up a rematch for the next PPV.

Sunday's show was supposed to decide the No. 1 contenders to the tag team titles. Amore's injury, though, prevented that from happening. That creates a lack of clarity with the championship picture, something Raw promises to address.

"As Amore recovers from his injury, the No. 1 contendership to The New Day's WWE tag team titles hangs in the balance. Expect more on this developing story tonight on Raw," the Raw preview reads.

As for the Intercontinental Championship, it's a lot more obvious who is in line for a title shot. A chaotic scene at Payback pointed to Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Sami Zayn all mixing it up with The Miz.

Owens and Zayn's feud spilled over into Miz and Cesaro's. Then all four men started swinging at each other. Look for that to continue as WWE moves toward a Fatal 4-Way match for the IC title.

The Reigns vs. Styles rivalry will be a crowded one. The Usos, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows will all be a part of the story. They certainly were on Sunday night when the champion's and challenger's allies brawled outside the ring during Payback's main event.

The Usos brawl with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

The Raw preview hinted at more of the same coming. It reads, "Will Gallows and Anderson find a way to get involved in this rivalry as they've done in recent weeks, or will The Usos keep Styles' longtime running buddies at bay?"

You can bet on that. A big part of the appeal of this rivalry has been all of its moving parts. Those will continue to play a major factor with the relationship between these allies evolving.
