NFL Draft Order 2016: Full Selection List for Rounds 2-7 and Round 1 Results

Nate LoopApr 29, 2016

An entertaining first round of the 2016 NFL draft is in the books.

The draft day began with quarterback Jared Goff going No. 1 overall to the Los Angeles Rams and ended a few hours later with the Seattle Seahawks nabbing offensive tackle Germain Ifedi with the 31st overall pick. There was plenty of drama between those two picks, from the Tennessee Titans engineering a trade to get back into the top 10 to Laremy Tunsil's social media-fueled nightmare.

The draft starts up again at 7 p.m. ET on Friday for the second and third rounds, before finishing off Saturday with the final four rounds.

The widget below has the full list of selections from the first round, plus the selection order for the rest of the draft. You can also check out the big board courtesy of Bleacher Report's Matt Miller and take a look at the best players still available after the first 31 selections.

Top Players On the Board After Round 1

Myles Jack, LB, UCLA and Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame

Two great college linebackers; two knee problems. Health concerns kept both Myles Jack and Jaylon Smith from becoming first-round picks in 2016, despite being two of the most highly touted players in the entire draft.

Jack tore the meniscus in his knee in September and has been working his way back to strength ever since. However, he may have scared teams off with his own comments just before the draft

“[The degenerative problems are] there, but it’s nothing extreme,” Jack said, per the New York Post's Bart Hubbuch. “Down the line, possibly I could have microfracture surgery—potentially. Who knows what will happen?"

No team wants to invest first-round money in a damaged player who might have a short shelf life in the NFL. However, Jack's talent is such that he could come off the board early on Friday. Bleacher Report's Jason Cole thought of a few teams the Bruins product could help:

Smith's saga is similar to Jack's, although the concern for him might be more about his immediate impact rather than long-term viability. USA Today's Tom Pelissero explains:

"

Smith’s peroneal nerve remains asleep, leaving him unable to lift his left foot or swing it out to the side. It’ll be months before doctors have a better idea whether and to what degree the nerve will wake up. That leaves perhaps the best player in this week’s NFL draft unlikely to go in Round 1, unlikely to play at all in 2016, and 32 team doctors to advise 32 general managers with varying needs and risk tolerance on the odds of Smith making a full recovery.

"

Whenever Smith is ready to play, he could make an impact right away. He's a smart, rangy linebacker who racked up 284 total tackles (23.5 for loss) in three seasons with the Fighting Irish.

Pro Football Focus' Steve Palazzolo notes the Titans could be a team looking to take a risk with so many extra picks:

Now that the financial commitments owed to most first-round prospects are no longer an issue, both Jack and Smith should be major topics of discussion in just about every team's draft war room.

The Cleveland Browns are on the clock first on Friday. They have extra picks in this draft after trading down in the first round, and they could use the help on defense.

It's quite possible the Browns snag either one of these players right away, thus eliminating some of the tension.

Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky

Noah Spence is one of the best pure pass-rushers in this year's draft, coming in at 13th overall on Miller's big board. However, character concerns have kept him from hearing his name called so far. Spence played his college ball at Ohio State before receiving a ban from the Big Ten for a pair of failed drug tests.

He transferred to FCS school Eastern Kentucky, where he spent 2015 dominating the competition to the tune of 22.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

He also used his time there to prove to NFL teams that he could stay clean, per ESPN's Adam Schefter

"

Eastern Kentucky LB Noah Spence, whom the Big Ten banned in November 2014 after a few positive drug tests at Ohio State, this week sent each of the 32 NFL teams the past 20 drug tests he has taken since May, per league sources.

Spence is attempting to prove to NFL teams that he has turned around his life since his troubles at Ohio State, and he wanted them to see all the clean test results.

"

Like Jack and Smith, Spence could go early in the second round. The Dallas Cowboys are in dire need of help at defensive end, but they spent their No. 4 overall pick on running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys pick third (34th overall) on Friday, behind Cleveland and Tennessee.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who own the 39th pick, could also use help in the pass-rushing department. The Bucs finished tied for 14th in the NFL last year with 38 team sacks but could use a player who can easily slot in as a 4-3 defensive end like Spence. They took cornerback Vernon Hargreaves with the 11th overall pick on Thursday.

Michael Thomas, WR, Ohio State

Despite possessing a large 6'3" frame and incredible jump-ball ability, Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas was not one of the four players at his position taken in the first round.

Cleveland, Houston, Washington and Minnesota all opted for other wideouts with their respective first-round choices, leaving Thomas to wait one more day to realize his NFL dream.

Pro Football Focus notes he is one of two wide receivers still available with a first-round grade from the site. Thomas put up impressive stats on a wildly talented Buckeyes team, totaling 110 receptions for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns from 2014-15.

Pre-Snap Reads' Cian Fahey thinks the Cowboys should go after him early:

Thomas would make for a fearsome tandem with Dez Bryant, forcing opposing teams to guard two large wide receivers with great hands and playmaking ability.

The Kansas City Chiefs could use another wide receiver to take some of the pressure away from Jeremy Maclin. The Chiefs traded out of the first round and now have two picks in the second round, at 37th and 59th overall.

Thomas' blend of size, great hands and proven production at an elite school shouldn't keep him on the board much longer in this draft.
