Why Should I Be a Running Back?
Media LabApr 28, 2016
Running backs used to be the biggest stars in the NFL, but the position has been greatly devalued in recent years.
It's a new, harsh reality for running backs, who are now seen as easily replaceable and unworthy of big contracts in today's NFL. Only nine running backs average over $6 million per year, according to Over the Cap.
When you compare that salary with those of players at other key positions in the NFL, let alone other major sports, the gap is rapidly growing.
Take a step back, and it's hard not to wonder whether the glory days of the running back are behind us. Why should anyone want to be a running back anymore?
