Kenyan Drake to Dolphins: Twitter Reacts as RB Is Selected in 2016 NFL Draft
The Miami Dolphins have found a potential replacement for Lamar Miller, as they took former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Kenyan Drake in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday with the 73rd overall pick.
Drake was more notably the backup to Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry, who went in the second round to the Tennessee Titans earlier in the day. The Dolphins tweeted this out after the selection was made:
The senior running back didn't get the number of carries Henry did, but he averaged 6.4 yards per carry and scored 18 touchdowns in his four seasons at Alabama. Here's a look at the best of the rest:
Drake was a “quality contributor” at Alabama and did more than score against Clemson. Despite the injuries limiting his production, he finished with 1,495 rushing yards, 570 receiving yards and 23 total touchdowns and is versatile enough to line up as a running back, slot receiver or special teams player.
One day after drafting Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, the Dolphins are showing their commitment to the running game by grabbing Drake. He'll get a chance to show how much Alabama head coach Nick Saban held him back in favor of Henry.
