Arsenal Transfer News: Fresh Rumours, Latest Players Wanted by Arsene Wenger

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged Gunners manager Arsene Wenger to target compatriot N'Golo Kante after a breakout season from the Leicester City midfielder.

Henry told Sky Sports (h/t Jon Harvey of Metro) Kante would give Arsenal an advantage in the title race next term after proving his credentials for the Foxes this season, with Leicester on the brink of winning the Premier League.

It looks like Arsenal can and should finish in the top four, but there is something to look forward to, and that’s next season.

If [Alexis] Sanchez can perform the way he’s performing at the minute, and we have Mesut Ozil carrying on giving the assists he’s been giving since the start of the season, then you can think if you have that striker who can score in that moment – maybe N’Golo Kante [as well], we have lots of names we can throw around.

[Riyad] Mahrez also was linked, but it's going to be a very busy summer for Arsene because you need to get that excitement back and the fans to look forward to something for next season.

Broadcaster Stan Collymore has tipped the France international to be named Player of the Year after proving to be one of the stars of the campaign:

The player has made 33 appearances for Leicester in the Premier League this season, according to Squawka.com, scoring once and winning 46 per cent of duels across the pitch.

Arsenal have lacked fight in the centre of the park for many years, and Kante would give Wenger the balance he craves, as Henry suggests.

The Gunners are also chasing Nottingham Forest winger Oliver Burke as they look to swell their youth ranks within the first-team squad.

The Sun (h/t Harvey of Metro) reported that Arsenal could sign the teenager could be signed as Wenger looks to "overhaul" his team after a disappointing campaign. Chief scout Steve Rowley has been watching the talent, with the futures of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in doubt as Arsenal look to the future.

The Scottish midfielder has made 17 appearances for the Championship side this season in all competitions, according to Sky Sports, and recently made his full international debut for his country against Denmark.

It has been a sorry season for Arsenal, as fans once again witness a repetitive ineptitude from their manager and players.

The Gunners should have run away with the title after the failures of Chelsea and Manchester City this term, but instead the side continues to flatter to deceive on a regular basis.

Wenger has failed to add the midfield and goalscoring talent needed to win the title in England, and his philosophy will come under increasing scrutiny during the summer months.

Kante would be the perfect addition to the Gunners' core, but after such a wonderful season, his services will not come cheap as his stock further inflates.
