WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Titus O'Neil, League of Nations, More

Ryan DilbertApr 19, 2016

As the latest reminder of how much the WWE landscape shifts, new rumors point to Titus O'Neil's re-emergence just as word of The League of Nations' potential breakup has started to spread.

Unless you count his latest PSA, O'Neil hasn't been on WWE TV in months now. That may soon end, as his suspension is over. One backstage report noted that he is about to return.

The League of Nations is down one member after casting out King Barrett in early April. Going by a recent rumor, the rest of the group may not hold up much longer themselves.

Other stories provide a backstage peek at a potential rivalry for Shane McMahon and what WWE has in mind for the Natalya vs. Charlotte feud.

Let's take a look at those rumors, as well as what's in store for O'Neil and The League of Nations, as WWE moves closer to May 1's Payback pay-per-view.

Latest on O'Neil's Return

O'Neil fans won't have to wait much longer. The powerhouse is poised to return to the roster.

In a bizarre turn of events this February, O'Neil grabbed Vince McMahon's arm after Daniel Bryan's retirement speech. The incident ended up netting The Real Deal a 60-day suspension that saw him miss WrestleMania 32.

The suspension actually ended earlier this month, but O'Neil hasn't started wrestling again. Instead, WWE is reportedly waiting until after the European tour to reintroduce him. PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported, "O'Neil is scheduled to return to the road from his 60-day suspension with WWE at the April 25 Raw taping in Hartford, Connecticut."

There is no word on if O'Neil will be on TV or if he will just be traveling with the roster again, working dark matches.

O'Neil had been the beneficiary of a modest push before the suspension. That momentum he gained, though, is gone now.

Luckily for him, he's walking back into a lineup that continues to be rocked by injuries.

League of Nations Ending Soon?

Sheamus, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio have just never clicked as a faction. As a result, the collection of foreign heels looks to be doomed.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Cageside Seats), Dave Meltzer reported that The League of Nations will likely dissolve soon. It's not yet clear when this will happen, but that's reportedly the direction WWE is headed with the group.

That's not a surprise at all with how little the group has caught on. With The Vaudevillains, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady all joining the tag team ranks in the last few weeks, there is less need to have Sheamus and his crew stick together.

Having a babyface somehow cause the group to split would be a smart move. WWE might as well give someone else some momentum as it ends the disappointing League of Nations experiment.

Backstage Word on Natalya vs. Charlotte Feud

Count on Charlotte tangling with Natalya for the next few PPV events.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestle Zone), Charlotte vs. Natalya is planned for both Payback and Extreme Rules. WWE reportedly decided to hold off on Sasha Banks' going for the gold again until SummerSlam.

WWE announced that Natalya would indeed challenge for the Women's Championship at Payback.

It's great to see WWE have Becky Lynch and Emma engage in a non-title feud in the meantime, but the company has yet to do much of anything with Banks while she waits her turn to re-enter the championship picture.

But waiting until SummerSlam to go with Banks vs. Charlotte makes a ton of sense. That's a match many expected to happen at WrestleMania, rather than the Triple Threat bout that actually took place.

It looks like Natalya will serve as a warm-up foe for Charlotte, as the champ gets closer to a marquee showdown with The Boss.

Authority Rumblings

Don't get used to how much Raw has been Authority-less of late. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are reportedly poised to strike back against Shane before long.

According to F4WOnline.com (h/t Wrestling Inc), a rivalry pitting Triple H and Stephanie against Shane-O-Mac is supposed to start soon. The report noted that it might have started on Monday's Raw in London, but there was no such development.

One had to assume, though, that The Authority would put up a fight.

Shane just walked in and took over, with little explanation as to why he's been given so much power. Triple H and Stephanie will naturally be opposed to just being pushed aside like that.

That narrative won't surprise anyone. What's more of a mystery is who will represent the two sides once this eventually gets settled in the ring.
