Chelsea Transfer News: Juventus Keen on Blues Business Amid Paul Pogba Rumours

Christopher SimpsonApr 18, 2016

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has said he is hopeful the Bianconeri can conduct transfer business with Antonio Conte's Chelsea, but he expects Paul Pogba to remain in Turin.

According to Radio Rai (h/t Goal's Tom Maston), Marotta said: "We and Chelsea respect each other. We're proud that Conte is now their manager, as five years ago we took a risk on him against many odds. I hope we can make some transfer dealings with Chelsea in the future."

Per football writer James Horncastle and Squawka Football, he said of Pogba:

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport (h/t Spencer Morgan of the MailOnline), Conte is targeting a reunion with Pogba, whom he signed from Manchester United in 2012.

Per Maston, Juve reportedly want to make Juan Cuadrado's loan switch a permanent one, while the Telegraph's Matt Law notes they have been linked with a move for Oscar.

Pogba will undoubtedly be in demand this summer after yet another largely excellent season with Juventus and one in which he will have almost certainly guided them to their fifth straight Serie A title.

The 22-year-old has inherited the No. 10 shirt this year and taken well to his newfound responsibility, racking up 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions. He has been enjoying a particularly rich vein of form in recent weeks, contributing eight goals in his last five matches.

On Sunday, he got in on the action as the Old Lady thrashed Palermo 4-0, per BT Sport Football:

The week prior, he scored the winning goal as Juve saw off AC Milan to maintain their momentum in the race for the Scudetto:

After yet another strong campaign under his belt, the midfielder is well on his way to becoming one of the world's best, and as such, Horncastle believes it will take a phenomenal amount of money to prise him away from Turin:

Chelsea are among the few clubs who could afford him, and Conte's presence at Stamford Bridge will likely add further allure for Pogba, as the Italian was the manager who gave him the opportunity to shine after being restricted to the youth team at Old Trafford and oversaw his impressive development.

Were the Blues to use Cuadrado and Oscar as make-weights, it would likely further increase their chances of landing him.

Juve are well aware of his importance to their own cause, though, and it seems they'll try to resist any interest in him despite their desire to do business with Chelsea.
