Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Theo Walcott's Future and Ben Chilwell Rumours

Tom BeckApr 17, 2016

Theo Walcott is considering leaving Arsenal this summer in search of regular first-team football, per Mike McGrath of the Sun.

The England international could spark a battle for his signature between the Premier League’s top sides after being frozen out at the Emirates Stadium with just 15 league starts all year, per WhoScored.com.

The 27-year-old has seen his opportunities limited in north London this season, resulting in his place on the plane to France for Euro 2016 now being put in the spotlight.

Per McGrath, Walcott will assess his future at the club in the summer, should he continue to be overlooked in manager Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.

With three years still remaining on his contract at Arsenal, the club would be forced to accept bids from domestic rivals for the pacy attacker, with Jurgen Klopp a known admirer of the former Southampton player.

Per James Orr of the Independent, the German head coach is contemplating making a move for Walcott due to him being used regularly as a substitute this term. Walcott has made it clear he would prefer to play as the club’s central striker, but Wenger has not granted his wish, with France international Olivier Giroud preferred in that starting role.

Even on the wide right of midfield, Walcott has failed to hold down his position, with the emergence of Nigerian starlet Alex Iwobi preventing him match action in a bid to impress England manager Roy Hodgson.

Leicester City are primed to win their first-ever Premier League title this season but could yet lose one of their youth-team starlets, per John Cross of the Mirror.

Wenger is hoping to lure 19-year-old defender Ben Chilwell to the Emirates despite the Foxes offering the England under-20s left-back a new contract.

Yet to agree to the proposed deal, Chilwellwho could reportedly earn £18,000 per weekis set to attract attention from Premier League heavyweights, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all monitoring the situation closely, per Cross.

Per WhoScored.com, the teenager made his competitive debut under Claudio Ranieri in October 2015 in the League Cup penalty shootout defeat to Hull City before being sent out on loan to Championship side Huddersfield Town on a short-term deal.
