Tuipulotu is the second-ranked prospect in the state of Oregon, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He is also the 15th-ranked defensive tackle in the nation and No. 237 among all prospects.
At 6'2", 275 pounds, Tuipulotu already has decent size for a defensive lineman, but if he's going to head to Washington as a defensive tackle, he might have to put on a bit more size. If not, he could head to the outside exclusively.
The Central High School product has played on all parts of the defensive line, and he's seen success everywhere he's been:
With an explosive first step and impressive strength, the state of Oregon has been hard-pressed to find an offensive lineman capable of blocking him.
Tuipulotu also has good closing speed for a player his size, which allows him to catch ball-carriers in the backfield.
This is Washington's second 4-star commit in the past four days. According to Scout.com, the Huskies picked up receiving prospect Terrell Bynum on Wednesday.
Getting a player with the promise of Tuipulotu is a step in the right direction to ensure that Washington continues its solid defensive play. Last year, the Huskies allowed just 18.8 points per game—the 13th-best mark in the nation.
