Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on N'Golo Kante, Zlatan Ibrahimovic Rumours

Rory MarsdenApr 13, 2016

Arsenal target N’Golo Kante could reportedly be available for £20 million in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea all interested in the Leicester City central midfielder.

According to Laurie Whitwell in the Daily Mail, the Frenchman "secured a £20 million release clause" when he joined the Foxes from Caen last summer.

Given his immense performances in the Premier League this season, 25-year-old Kante would be expected to prompt a significant transfer battle if he is indeed available at that price.

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic also hinted at a potential Premier League move in the summer, revealing he has "had lots [of offers]" from English clubs, per MailOnline's Jack Gaughan.

Gaughan added that the 34-year-old superstar confirmed he will leave the Parc des Princes this summer when his contract expires and would "prefer" a move to England, but the Swede could demand as much as £600,000 a week in wages.

The Gunners are set to fall short in the Premier League title race for the 12th year in a row this season—Bleacher Report's Dean Jones has predicted a third-place finish—and their drop in form since the turn of the year has betrayed a lack of quality and squad depth:

Manager Arsene Wenger needs to make significant additions in the summer if his side are to be genuine contenders next term, and Kante would be a fantastic signing who would seemingly not break the bank.

Arsenal already have Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny to call upon in the defensive-midfield area, but they need further quality, depth and steel, which Kante would add in spades.

His contribution for Leicester this season has been fantastic, and he is a nightmare for attacking players to come up against, interrupting opposition forays forward at every turn, per Opta:

If Arsenal are ever going to win the league again, they need to be harder to score against, harder to beat, and Kante would make them a much stronger unit.

At the other end of the pitch they, need a more reliable goalscorer. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott both started the 2015-16 campaign well, but they have contributed just four Premier League goals between them since the turn of the year, per WhoScored.com.

Ibrahimovic, on the other hand, has netted 15 league goals in 2016 and 30 overall from 26 appearances this season, per WhoScored

That kind of return from a striker would give Arsenal a huge boost and likely earn them the extra points they need to contend at the top of the table for an entire season.

Per Daniel Prescott for MailOnline and Dan Francis of the Daily Mail, the Gunners are interested in Zlatan and have the financial muscle to persuade him to join them.

It would undoubtedly be worth Arsenal meeting his huge wage demands, not least because there will be no transfer fee to pay.

Given that he may be the man they need to finally win the Premier League again, Arsenal should go all out to persuade the Swede to join them over other English clubs this summer.
