The Jordan Brand, a product of legendary basketball player Michael Jordan's greatness, continued broadening its horizons to boxing by signing Gennady Golovkin.

Nike announced that Golovkin joined the team through an official news release on Tuesday. Golovkin currently holds four world middleweight championships—the WBA, IBF and IBO titles as well as the interim WBC belt.

Golovkin is the third boxer to join the Jordan Brand—along with Andre Ward and Roy Jones Jr.—and reacted to his signing on Twitter:

"We are excited to add Gennady to the Jordan Brand family," said Jordan Brand President Larry Miller, per Nike's news release. "Gennady’s work ethic, dedication to his craft and style make him a perfect fit."

It's hard to debate the merit of Miller's words when it comes to what makes Golovkin great. "GGG" boasts a perfect 34-0 career record with a whopping 31 knockouts and has never gone down to the canvas as a professional or amateur boxer.

That type of competitive will to finish and his domination of the opposition have helped Golovkin reach epic heights, and these are the sort of attributes that drove the brand's eponymous pioneer to six NBA championships.

Golovkin's combination of punching power and a strong chin has him positioned to be the best middleweight fighter of his generation.

Per the Nike release, Golovkin announced his decision to join from his training camp in Big Bear, California. The 34-year-old's next bout, in which he'll put all of his current title belts on the line, is slated for April 23 against Dominic Wade at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

Being associated with the Jordan Brand is bound to boost Golovkin's visibility and marketability as he continues an epic career in the ring.
