Raw 9/28/09: The Reverend Of Raw

Raw Comes to you Live from Albany New York, John Cena is set to run the gauntlet against his challenger and the tag team champs in our main event.

MvP and Mark Henry in the VIP Lounge. 
MvP introduces the Guest host of Raw, but the undisputed tag champions interrupt.
Jericho vs MvP in the race to introduce the guest host. "Living in America" playing in the background as Sharpton heads to the ring.

"Education reform to close the gap in achievement."

First match Jeri-show vs MvP and Henry for the tag titles. Break.
Fast start to the match isolating MvP to the heel side of the ring. Plenty of two counts to begin the match. Henry is in he and Big Show are testing each others strength. Big Show for a splash in the corner and Mark Henry catches him. MvP tries but cant get Big Show off his feet. and Show unloads with a huge clothesline. Both Jericho and MVP are fighting MVP makes a tag to Henry who takes Jericho and launches him at Show. show tells Henry he needs a little more power than that and catches his partner. break.
Back from break Jericho is pinned for a two count. Big Show gets the tag gets a vicious spear on Henry. leg drop and big splash gets the Big Show a two count. minor double team tactics and another two count. Show applies the weakest looking arm bar in the history of jericho's 1004 holds. show ddt's Henry for a two count. Jericho gets a tag. tries for a sleeper. Mark Henry sells it even though king points out it is not locked in. to the corner show gets a tag.he and Henry run at each other and connect with a whopper of a double clothesline. tag to both partners. Jericho and MVP are in after a 7 count by the ref on show and Henry. MVP lands a big boot for a two count, MVP hits Balling!for a two count.Show interrupts a play-maker, show is sent to the outside by Henry who is sent out by Jericho DDT on Jericho for two and a codebreaker for rebuttal and the win. Big Show may or may not have clubbed MVP i missed it.

Sharpton is being shown back stage in a  funny segment with Santino Chavo Swaggle and masters.

break comes back with Mickie vs Rosa Mendez.
Mickie is out first bah champs get no love in this company. Rosa soon after with Alicia by her side. this match was just sloppy. I don't know if it is just because of mis-communication or if Rosa's timing with Mickie is just that bad. But even while Mickie tried her hardest to carry this match, it was  definitely not what i have been treated to on raw as of late. 

break returns with coverage of HIaC. 
Legacy is on their way out to the ring to face, the microphone. promo from ted and Cody. 
"We get it, nobody expects us to win on Sunday"

Cody is giving the audience what seems to be a respectful history lesson ending each part with a derogatory remark. HBK interrupts with Boring!!!! stolen right from Austin. More like the hecklers from Muppet show.

"Cody you are a comic book nerd. you know the story of the incredible hulk and his alter ego Bob Barker" lol. too funny.
DX heads to the ring and legacy high tails it. "This Sunday inside that cell there is no where to run no where to hide. Just pure hell for legacy"
Break

Swagger vs Evan Bourne Swagger comes out with the belt on his waste.
Evan looks pretty beat up to begin. Swagger uses his foot in the back of evan's knee and pulls his foot almost to his head. this is pretty much a squash match but both Evan and swagger take a little time to show why they are on TV each week. even with a creative knee drop off the ropes. and swagger puts on the breaks from a hurricanrana turning it into a vicious power-bomb. two of my favorite moves so far tonight. the size difference was crazy never noticed it before. swagger gets the V goes grabs the US title and starts to cut a promo. miz interrupts and the two fight. Kofi grabs the title while his opponents fight. Kofi poses with the title on the ramp. we are off to break.

Santino and Hornswaggle vs Chavo and Masters. Santino is going to crap a masterpiece in just a few seconds. too bad Chavo called me stupid for being against his angle with Hornswaggle. Chavo and Santino in first. Brings Santino to his corner tags in Masters. Chavo and Masters dominating Santino. nice European uppercuts by Chavo. weird punch by Santino. Master-lock Santino hulks up but its not enough Chavo wins. Chavo belts Masters post match while he has 'swaggle in the Master-lock. creative unexpected ending to the segment. Chavo looks confused by his actions similar to Santino's old confusion when he made offense a couple months ago. The match did not have Hornswaggle in the major parts and it was by far better than the matches have been for the last two months. 

Ben Roethlisberger will host next week.Cole and King are in the ring the cell is being plugged. the cameras and lights are focused on the cell. The card is run down.

interesting segment with Jillian and Bella twins. Sharpton says after success on his education reform tour, he will be singing (sans back up dancers) "I feel good, I knew that i would now." very short and not too long of a segment perfect IMHO and he says good bye to the live audience and the viewers at home. break again should be coming back to the main event. 

The only time champ should precede his opponent to the ring its a gauntlet the Champ vs Jericho Orton and Show. They keep showing the cell above the ring. maybe an audience special post raw match. 

First out to face the Champ is Jericho. (who already fought this week.) Jericho has never beat Cena in a one on one. Sad with Jericho's talents and all. Cena forces Chris to the corner. ref gets to four count in the corner. Cena gives a drop toe hold. Jericho takes control of the match . three count choking Cena on the ropes. Jericho pins Cena or two. sleeper on Cena. even if Jericho wins Cena has to face show and Orton. weird arm-drag by Jericho to counter the AA. guillotine on the bottom rope. Jericho is raising his arm like he is a winner. Cena with the proto-plex pumps up, is this by chance the second lay there and be humbled move of the night. Up for the AA Jericho rolls up and turns it into a weak Boston crab. Ref count to five Jericho is disqualified. He continues the hold after the bell. Shawn Cena wins match one? Big Show is round two. Walls still on Cena. Cena looks to be a pile of mess in the Big Show's ring. Kidney Punches to Cena. They are doing a tour from rope to rope. Cuts to break.

Back from break big show is still punishing Cena. Driving his shoulder into Cena's lower back. Bear Hug on Cena. Cena gets his arms through to break the hug. Knee to Cena's Chest Big Show calls for the Choke Slam. Cena gives Show the slowest DDT reversal ever. it was like molasses. Cena is Measuring Show up. Gets him up on his Shoulders Jericho shoves show onto Cena. Disqualification. Orton is coming out to fight his match Cena is 2-0 in this contest. Orton is stalking to the ring. Cena is hurting. Cena waves Randy into the match. Orton is in the ring face to face with the champ. Cena Points up and the cell is coming down. Cena Holding the viper in the ring as the cell lowers. Orton almost makes it out but the cell hits the floor. Orton looks at Cena Cena is revived in the ring it looks. Both Eyeball the door. Looks like they are going to be running for the door. nice chase. Orton is climbing the cell. Cena Follows. Orton receives the AA on top of the cell. im guessing this is no contest Cena's music hits. both look to be thanking god the cell didn't give way. this cell looks higher than usual. maybe its just because it is a cell on Raw but it definitely looks bigger. Orton sells the fence to his back well. did not save this show though. 

this show was just awful going into a pay per view. unless big show and Jericho are in Cena's pocket there was no explanation how he was brought back to life for Orton.
I am giving this is show a D+. This show was not at all a memorable show. the segments I personally think were better than the show itself, and for once I'm not giving the low grade for burying Chavo he actually won tonight even though it was masters over Santino technically.

match of the night is definitely Swagger and Bourne. they had some creative moves in their match even though had limited time.
