Danny WebsterApr 8, 2016

After Kyle Busch nearly led from flag-to-flag, the former Sprint Cup champion won the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway.

Erik Jones, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott and Dale Earnhardt Jr. rounded out the top five, and Busch won his 80th career NASCAR Xfinity series race.

Busch and Jones started and ended the race at one-two.

NASCAR captured this moment at Victory Lane after the Las Vegas native crossed the finish line:

It didn't take long before the yellow flag would make an appearance at Texas Motor Speedway. On the second turn on the first lap, Ryan Preece spun out and couldn't regain control on the track, per NASCAR Xfinity:

But as soon as the green flag went up after that caution, Busch clawed toward the front of the pack and stayed there. He led for 150 laps, including the race's last 81.

Busch nearly dominated the race from start to finish. The only other threat to challenge Busch near the top was Kyle Larson, who ended up finishing 11th. NASCAR Xfinity provided a GIF of Larson making a run:

But it was all Busch. Despite notable veterans Earnhardt Jr. and Keselowski heightening the competition, Busch maintained the lead throughout and won his fourth Xfinity race in five starts this season.

MeetBall Racing could only explain Busch's dominance in this particular way:

Chicagoland Speedway went the cartoon route to describe how Busch was winning this race:

With this win, Busch continues his hot stretch in the racing world. He led 352 of 500 laps to win the STP 500 on Sunday at Martinsville, and he also won the Alpha Energy Solutions 250 the day prior. If he can continue to ride this momentum into the Duck Commander 500 on Saturday, he'll surely be the new leader atop the Sprint Cup standings.

Post-Race Reaction

With the win on Friday, Busch won his eighth cowboy-hat trophy in the Xfinity race in Texas, and he thinks there's always room for one more.

"I guess you have a spare one for every day of the week," Busch said, per Reid Spencer of NASCAR.com. "It certainly is a good problem to have. We've had some really good runs here over the years, and we've been really fast. This NOS Energy Drink Camry was great."

Busch opened up a three-second lead with about 80 laps to go, and he thought he got the most out of his car's performance.

"We got our money's worth out of it and (crew chief Chris) Gayle got his money's worth out of it, too, on the pit box today," Busch said, per Spencer. "We had to make some adjustments to it and fine-tune on it to make it better and better."

The caution flags came early and often on Friday night, with one instance including Jeb Burton losing a tire on the 144th lap, which dropped him from his top-10 spot.

"I was really, really tight, and I was chattering tires all night," Burton said after he was released from the infield care center. "I went into (Turn) 1, and I thought I had a problem, but it was too late."
