Oklahoma Sooners senior Buddy Hield continues to leave his mark in college basketball history.

The Sooners' leading scorer became the Big 12's all-time leading scorer in the first half of Saturday's Final Four matchup against the Villanova Wildcats. He reached the milestone on a layup in the first half, per Oklahoma Basketball:

Hield surpassed former Baylor Bears guard LaceDarius Dunn, who scored 2,285 points from 2008 to 2011.

When it comes to scoring the basketball, no one has done that better than Hield this year. He led all NCAA players in total points (916) and was only second to James Daniel of the Howard Bison in points per game (27.1 per contest).

Hield finishes his basketball career far away from catching Wayman Tisdale's 2,661 points, which tops Oklahoma's all-time list when the Sooners were a part of the Big 8. As far as Oklahoma players in the Big 12, Hield surpassed Hollis Price this season for most points ever by a Sooner in the Big 12. Price played from 2000-03 and scored 1,821 points.

The Big 12 conference tweeted this to congratulate the Oklahoma scorer on his accomplishment:

This milestone is another reminder on how prolific of a player Hield has been during the Sooners' run to the Final Four. He's not just a three-point specialist. His versatility to drive to the basket while possessing a solid mid-range game round off his all-around game that has NBA scouts drooling with excitement. He's currently listed as the No. 7 prospect in Draft Express' NBA mock draft, and could possibly move to the top 5 with a strong performance in the draft combine.

This weekend will be the last time Hield wears a Sooners uniform, but he'll be leaving as the Big 12's most prolific scorer and a soon-to-be stellar NBA prospect.
