Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Dolphins were forced to look for depth at running back when they lost starter Lamar Miller to free agency this season when he signed a four-year deal with the Houston Texans.
In an attempt to fill the void, Miami lost out on Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson after their four-year offer sheet was matched and veteran Chris Johnson, who was brought in for a visit but chose to re-sign with the Arizona Cardinals.
Looking ahead toward the 2016 season, the Dolphins don't have a proven back who warrants confidence as a No. 1 rusher, and Pead doesn't resolve that feeling either.
According to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez, Pead will be competing for a roster spot but is an "intriguing guy with upside."
What could help him find a spot on Miami's roster is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. In 2013, he recorded 11 receptions in 10 games with the Rams.
In a pass-happy Dolphins offense that attempted 588 passes compared to just 344 rushes, Pead could be a nice option in the flat for Ryan Tannehill.
His status with the team will also depend on what Miami does in the upcoming draft. With the No. 13 pick, if the Dolphins choose a running back such as Ezekiel Elliott—if he's still available in the first round—then his chances of seeing time on the field could decrease.
