Is It Time For The Titans To Bench Kerry Collins?
I realize this is a bit extreme, but the time may be up when it comes to Kerry Collins. They just gave him a new contract in the offseason, and hoped to improve on their 13-3 record from a year ago. Now, they find themselves 0-3, and with a matchup against Jacksonville next week, on the verge of being out of the playoff race very early in the year. I mean, a huge winning streak is possible, but this team is built to win now.
With a running back tandem like Chris Johnson and Lendale White, Collins isn't called upon to do much, but yesterday against the Jets, they needed him to win the game. They couldn't move the ball on the ground, and they lost the game.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Collins was 15 for 37 in the game, including a stretch where he threw 13 straight incomplete passes, one being an interception. Now, if this is how he produces against good teams in the clutch, how can he be considered a better option than Vince Young?
Collins is a solid veteran, but like I said, this team is built to win now. It has an aging defence, a solid line, and the aforementioned RB tandem. Collins can generally get away with abysmal stat lines, but against good teams when they need to pass to win, he hasn't come through this year.
He is only completing 55 per cent of his passes on the year, and has a 4-4 TD/INT ratio.
Now, I'm not saying that going to Vince Young would result in more victories, but isn't it time to give your former #3 overall pick another chance? He has shown in the past that he is a winner, and provides problems for opposing defences with his legs.
While Young has only completed 57 per cent of his passes in his career, and has a 22-32 TD/INT ratio, I believe he offsets his play with clutch performances. Remember his amazing 39 yard TD run to beat Houston in overtime a few years ago? This guy showed even from his time at the University of Texas that he can win games, and that is exactly what Tennessee needs at this point.
I don't know if the time is now for Young, but it may be soon. The Titans face two huge divisional matchups in the coming weeks. They go to Jacksonville next week, than face the Colts at home. After that, they go to New England for the final game before their Bye. Yikes.
It is very possible they come out of that stretch 0-6. Will that be the time to make the move to Young? All I know is, if Jeff Fisher wants to keep his job, he better get some wins on the board and make a playoff push. Vince Young may be the key to all that.
