David Haye vs. Arnold Gjergjaj Press Conference Gatecrashed by Shannon Briggs

Gianni VerschuerenMar 30, 2016

Former WBO world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs gatecrashed a press conference held by David Haye and Arnold Gjergjaj to promote their upcoming bout on May 21, calling out the 35-year-old Brit for choosing to fight the Kosovan over him.

As reported by the Daily Mirror's Jacob Murtagh, Briggs had some choice words for the former WBA heavyweight champion:

"

Let's go champ! David, I've got you on camera. Do me a favour and tell the people at home why you're fighting someone we've never heard of instead of me.

We haven’t heard of this guy. I'll knock him out right now. Where did you get him from? Tesco? Sainsburys? Whole Foods?

I came to your country for a fight. Let's go champ. Give us an answer champ. We need an answer.

Here's video of the incident:

Haye told Briggs to fight on the undercard and that he would talk to him if people want to see the fight, but only if he passed a "brain scan" first.

Per BoxRec, the 44-year-old Briggs is undefeated since he took a hiatus from fighting after a loss against Vitali Klitschko in 2010, but he has only faced journeymen since returning to the sport in 2014. Haye celebrated his return with a knockout win over Mark de Mori in January.

Briggs has been calling out Haye since February, per Isaac Robinson of Sky Sports, and fans seem to like the idea of the two veterans going head-to-head. Boxing Kingdom believe Briggs would provide Haye with a good test:

Gjergjaj enters his bout with Haye with an undefeated record, but he's a relative unknown in the boxing world. His resume includes a decision win over Denis Bakhtov, the Russian fighter who was knocked out by Anthony Joshua in 2014, per BoxRec
