Holiday Expected to Make Full Recovery After Surgery
Monday, April 11
Holiday underwent successful eye surgery on Monday, and the timeline for his recovery is four to six weeks, announced the Pelicans.
The Pelicans announced on March 29 the eye injury was a fracture to his right inferior orbital wall.
Holiday Submitted Strong Season for Pelicans
Even though the Pelicans have been a disappointment this season, Holiday has been one of the few bright spots. He's third on the team in scoring, second in assists and first in steals, per Basketball-Reference.com.
In 65 games this season, Holiday averaged 16.8 points, six assists and three rebounds while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor.
The Pelicans have already lost Anthony Davis for the season due to knee and shoulder injuries, with the former problem requiring surgery. New Orleans has been in the Southwest Division cellar virtually all year, so nothing significant was lost from Davis being shut down.
Holiday's absence only compounds problems for the Pelicans, who can spend the offseason trying to figure out what went wrong this year and how to get back in the playoff mix next season.
