After the match, The Dudley Boyz went on to assault The Usos, but ultimately, the winners used the Dudleys' infamous tables against them:
Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley shocked the WWE Universe when they returned to the company last year, and they were instant fan favorites. Although they did vie for the Tag Team Championship for a period of time against The New Day, it wasn't long before they were somewhat lost in the shuffle.
That changed when they attacked The Usos after teaming with them in a losing effort, thus sparking a heel turn and setting the stage for a clash at the showcase of immortals.
The Dudley Boyz insisted they had no interest in being a nostalgia act, and they even denounced the use of tables, which is one of the trademarks that made them such a popular tandem over the years.
Jimmy and Jey Uso didn't take kindly to the Dudleys' change in attitude, and they sought revenge for the betrayal of trust that led to Bubba Ray and D-Von taking on villainous personas.
The Usos also tried to force The Dudley Boyz into getting involved with tables despite their opposition to them, but the former ECW stars did everything they could to avoid it.
With the Samoan twins inching closer and closer to retribution on the road to WrestleMania, D-Von warned that a grim fate awaited them at the show of shows:
While both teams have proved deserving of being in the Tag Team Championship mix, that honor went to the League of Nations instead. The Usos and Dudleys still managed to build a fairly interesting angle without the titles involved, though, and helped show off the depth of WWE's tag division.
WrestleMania hasn't placed much emphasis on tag team wrestling in recent years with a multiteam match being thrown on the pre-show more often than not, but the fact that WWE placed more than one tag match on this year's card was a testament to the amount of talent present in the ranks.
The Usos and Dudley Boyz seized their chance to shine Sunday, and it was Jimmy and Jey who were ultimately rewarded with a win at the biggest event of the year.
Since the Dudleys are a veteran team that has accomplished everything in the world of wrestling, it made sense for them to put over a younger duo like The Usos.
Losing the match does little damage to The Dudley Boyz's credibility because of their unmatched track record, while The Usos now have a chance to reach the next level with such a huge resume-building victory.
