Picking an Elite Atletico Madrid 5-a-Side Team from Current Squad

Five-a-side football, we've all played it, but what if the pros had a go?

While for us five-a-side involves relentlessly getting up and down the pitch to both attack and defend in equal measure, professional players would obviously bring a different level of skill to the game, utilising their ability in the 11-a-side game to make for a formidable prospect.

Who would make the best five-a-side players, though?

Here's an Atletico Madrid quintet to compete with anyone.

Obviously every five-a-side team needs a goalkeeper, and unless you're lucky enough to know a specialist one then your experience of playing is likely to include occasionally donning the gloves for a brief period (counted either in minutes or the concession of goals), but there is no such problem for our team.

Jan Oblak will go in goal and stay there, and the 23-year-old Slovenian will be a strong last line of defence for our side.

Just try putting one beyond him into those small goals.

Diego Godin

The inclusion of an older, more experienced head who is happy to stay at the back and mop up any danger is another ingredient in successful five-a-side teams, and the Atletico five have got that in Diego Godin.

The Uruguayan is as good an out-and-out defender as you can find in Europe at the moment, and he'll be tasked with snapping into challenges and intelligently using the ball to get our side moving forward.

He won't often pass the halfway line, but his discipline will be crucial to this side.

Saul Niguez

We're going to need a high-energy, all-action player who can get up and down the pitch and be equally comfortable in both defence and attack.

Step forward young midfielder Saul Niguez, who has made a huge impact at Atletico this season and has operated in a variety of positions, scoring both vital goals and helping to prevent the concession of them.

No-one will want to come up against the relentless 21-year-old, who could just give this team an all-important edge.

Koke

Accurate passing is so crucial in five-a-side, with short, sharp balls creating space and goalscoring opportunities.

And who better to provide those passes than the Spain international Koke, whose ability on the ball will open up the opposition and ensure that most of the traffic is heading towards their goal and not his own team's.

One of the best, most consistent midfielders in La Liga, Koke's inclusion in this team is a vital one, and he's a player the opposition won't be happy to see.

Antoine Griezmann

Clever movement and clinical finishing are vital in five-a-side, and while we've all played with someone who just stands upfront and doesn't exactly bust a gut in trying to help the team, you can be sure that Antoine Griezmann won't do that.

The France international has quickly risen to join the ranks of the very best forwards on the continent, and he'll be hoping to prove that with a starring role for the hosts in the European Championships in the summer.

Having him spearheading the five-a-side team gives us a figurehead that the team will always look to hit, and you can be sure that he'd score plenty of goals.
